Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “in the presence of nature, a wild delight runs through man.”
Here at Quarry Hill Elementary School, we also know that the best learning environments take place in the natural world. With this in mind, we are working to open up a permanent outdoor learning center for our students – and we are looking for your help to do so!
The Learning N.E.S.T. (Nature, Education, STEM, Togetherness) will be an outdoor classroom and bird sanctuary in our courtyard. It is a place where children can spend time in nature while developing the confidence and character needed to go out into the world and make it a better place.
The Learning N.E.S.T. will include:
- A Library Patio (for reading and small group lessons)
- A vegetable garden
- A water feature
- Stadium seating for outdoor classroom instruction
We are all very excited about the potential learning opportunities for students at the Learning N.E.S.T. Take a virtual tour and explore the Learning N.E.S.T.!
